On my way to B.E

Exam season brings it share of jitters, excitement and what not every six months. During this exam session quite a few things escaped my attention. It was only a few days before the 26th of May that I realized that this was going to be my last exam of my engineering. It took some time for the thought to settle in, I will no more be a part of the college, no more PL's, no more bunking, no more tapris, and the list can go on. There are so many things which I have been doing in so many years, which were a part of my life, might not be the same anymore. It was a scary proposition, change is always resisted, but some changes are imminent and this was one of them. I knew I wouldn't be doing any studies immediately and now this means that my life would be going through a paradigm shift and I have to realize that, but before that I have to enjoy my last few days as an engineering student.

No pleasure is as big as sadistic pleasure, and hence I decided to implicate the same agony on my classmates. It took them a while to swallow the thought but eventually they did, we came to an agreement that these few days we have, should be memorable and that left us all with deep thought. The ideas were bound by the fact that we had an exam in a few days and after an hour of thinking we all got back to studies.

I made my way to the library and finished up a few pages of the book, that I realized how four years back I had come to this library for the first time. I managed to study a bit that day but I made a lot of friends, some of them till date have been close to me. I remember those days when I left the reading hall satisfied with the studying I had done and also remember days when I left the library with my friend to play pool and came rushing back in time before the library closed. There were times when I (unsuccessfully) tried studying in the college canteen, knowledge corridor, the juice centre and so many other places. I used to wonder why do I always try studying at these places when I know it was never going to happen, but now I know why, had it not been for those moments I wouldn't have been writing here, I have a story to tell about every moment here in this college.

It was the final evening before I see the dawn of the final day of mine as an engineering student. I was as usual studying in the reading hall. I called it a day only when the library was about to be shut down, savouring every moment of this. I lingered at the locked door for a minute, there was a message here. These were signs of the inevitable. I walked towards my bike. A black 150 cc pulsar, it was one of companions throughout this journey and I took more than two kicks to start, I guess even it had realized the importance of today. I drove along the road in front of durga cafe, I saw a lot of guys collecting money from their friends, may be one of them was asking the other one to buy him one cold coffee for today, there were guys ogling at gals, there were couples who couldn't get their eyes off each other, and today I felt like an outsider.

The morning of the exams was the usual, last minute revisions and reading, friends adding questions to the list of important ones, the invigilators making sure that nobody was writing anything on their tables, nobody was carrying any cheats, the control room distributing the answer sheets and question papers to the invigilators. I kept my bag aside and sat on the table. Well this is it, the moment has come when I would be doing something for the last time, and a journey was coming to an end. How was the paper? Well this paper is a landmark, these three hours would be etched in my mind forever, because it is special and I don't want to bind the importance of it with the way I answered my paper. It marks the end of a very special journey and I will let it be the way it is; Special

WHEN YOU ENTER THE ZONE

Human mind is very childish. It never takes things for granted. It will only accept those things which it has felt first hand; otherwise it finds it really hard to believe it. If someone says that the bench is freshly painted we have to touch it, even if somebody says that your favorite team has lost the match, we will watch the game verify it from three sources and then we believe in it.

In this category there is a special entrant. Its Exam time (goose bumps!!). The exam schedule is out a month back and that’s when we comfort our mind that there is enough time for you to prepare for the exams. I decided to draw a plan as to how each and every subject would be tackled; my mind raced to the minute the examiner would read my answer paper and acknowledge it as the work of a genius. And that’s how preparations kick start. (Well the kick was not where it has to be…more on the kick later).

The first morning of the EPL (Engineer’s Preparatory leave) is coincidently an important day for EPL (English Premier League) and inaugural day for IPL( Indian Premier League).  The first day comes and goes and so do many days after that. Every day is a slow and steady progress (my parents might read this!!!) and syllabus has to be covered. When the first few sums are solved, we stumble on to a few problems but they are solved and my mind races to the expression of the examiner…work of a genius. It takes a few seconds for the mind to come back, the next few questions keep adding to the trouble and one after the other topics are piled up and then enters a friend. A friend is someone who can manage to distract you from studies and at the same time makes you feel that you have spent the whole day studying. A friend is someone who makes you feel that you have studied everything possible on the face of this earth.

And that’s precisely how we feel. We think we know everything and then slowly the nerves start coming in and also a mechanism I have perfected of calming myself down, by playing a little FIFA 09, or Age of Empires, the more nervous I am the more I play.

The sun rises and I felt extremely confident about the paper, all the jugaads are in place, my mind again goes to the expression of the examiner, he still thinks I am a genius but he doesn’t know is that is that I hoodwinked him to make him feel like that.

Then I took a nice long relaxing shower, and drove my way to college and that’s when I met my friend again (grrrr…..)

“Did you study this part, its important” the world comes crashing down ,the topics on the important lists keep adding up, the topics which I haven’t covered are equivalent to the number of topics which are important, the watch skips an entire hour altogether in no time the exam bell rings, I can imagine the wicked smile of the examiner, books are replaced by answer sheets and in no time the invigilator lands the final ( is it?...I thought there were more to come) blow with three words

1500 visitors

As you people would see that my counter now shows more than 1500 visitors which is a good number but considering the amount of time my blog was up..Its not a good number. I am wishing to turn it around by writing more regularly and showing it to more people.
Thanks to all those people who supported me through this period

Murphys law

The law says that anything that can go wrong will go wrong...and how many times have we noticed this. Your cell phone gets discharged the  minute you need the most. Your bike refuses to start when the signal is green, the only question you dont study for the paper is the first question in the paper......
but why does this happen?  I mean why does this law hold true. Why is the nature against us when we need it the most!!

All our lives would be normal had it not been for Murphy. Had he not told the world about this stupid law we wouldnt have thought about it in this way, we would have taken the wrong in our stride. Now poor Mr Murphy is abused everytime something goes wrong. I guess he would be abused so much that Mr Murphy would also be praying that his law goes wrong but....

Dont Blame us Mr Murphy you started it

THE PURSUIT

Life has a strange flavour to it, everything about this life is unique despite so many people living it at the same time, at the same place and probably living the same moment; but the beauty of it is that every life is still uniquely different. There is one thing which is common in all our lives and that’s our pursuit of happiness, our pursuit of love. I was walking on the very crowded J.M road, some people where walking towards me and some against me but everyone was walking towards his destination. We all try and do things to the best of our abilities; we dress up very well, we make sure we are respected and loved all this for one reason and that is when that one person comes in our lives, we would be prepared for it, so that when that one person comes in our lives, we would sweep him off his feet, so that when that one person comes in our lives, we can make sure that he never leaves. On this crowded road, eyes meet for fleeting seconds but we know that this fleeting second is enough for us to recognize him or her and that’s what I was doing, looking out for my love.

I reached the small park at the end of the road. It is adjoining a theatre called Balgandharva. I walked in to the park and the green was very pleasing to my eye. A cool breeze was blowing; the blue evening sky had a little pink and I wondered why it was blushing, maybe it was telling me something, but what?...hey may be today was my day.

I kept wandering around the park when I heard a giggle. There is this small fountain in a corner of the park. This fountain was surrounded by wild grass and the water wasn't clean either. The road leading to it was full of litter and maybe that’s why there wasn't any one there except for a girl. She was dark skinned and was very shabbily dressed. She had no ornaments on her, no watch on her wrist; all she had was a stick in her hand and dark glasses on her nose. That is when I realized that she was blind. I walked towards her, she had immersed her hand in the water near the fountain, and she then took her hand out of the water and was fiddling with the wild grass growing around it. Her touch was doing the work of her eyes. Just then I heard another noise. A man was walking towards the fountain, he too had a stick and wore dark glasses, and evidently even he was blind. He seemed to be walking towards the fountain, towards the blind girl.

The girl felt his presence close to her and called him. The man went close to her and sat beside her near the fountain. She held his right hand and guided it to the fountain water, there was a smile on his face too, he slowly raised his wet hand and moved his fingertips over her cheeks, and there was another chuckle. She pushed his hand away. He held her hand with his right and slowly placed a beautiful red rose on it. I don’t know how he selected the rose, because it was very beautiful. When she felt the rose, her face was glowing. They slowly stood up, held each other’s hands and walked away from the small fountain.

I had just seen the beauty of love. I wonder how his glance met hers in this huge crowd, I wonder how they fell in love, I wonder how they said it to each other, I wonder how he managed to find the most beautiful rose in the lot for her, I wonder how they fall in love every day. I walked towards the fountain. I closed my eyes and dipped my fingertips in the fountain water, It was cold and the grass was soft. I had learnt a lesson today and by the way the sky was not blushing for me, it was for these two people who might not look very beautiful but are very pure and had a beautiful soul.

I for a second was fooled by the sky and the sun knew it because he set across the horizon with a wicked smile.

Cheated

Today morning when I woke up, I couldnt figure out what exactly i was going to write on this blog, and like most indians i too believe that early morning prayers and wishes are always answered and guess what god gave me a great oppurtunity to write....
Well I had come to the college to get some photocopies done and I had parked my bike in front of metro stationers...which has a parking place which is one of the safest places around. Now here is the tragedy, my bike wasnt there after 10 mins and i started abusing the rto guys to the best of my abilities( not in front of them...i still had to get my bike back...u remember??)  and was thinking of calling Pune mirror or TOI , I could imagine my picture on the front page and people sympathising with me but all my dreams where shattered when a rickshaw driver who saw me came forward and told that, those guys picked my bike up because it was in no parking. Well how did that happen??? It was just that one of the guys who wanted a parking place conveniently pulled my bike down and parked his there, when i got to know about this from the rickshaw driver that person had escaped, so now now.....We people keep abusing the RTO people but i guess they did their duty, now this might be funny but trust me it isnt because this is cheating. If this was a country where all tickets are counted then at the count of 10 such tickets i would have lost my license and would be banned from applying for a license for a period of a year. We talk about so many things which should be done to improve our country but if things have to change, then the change should be within us, if this doesnt happen then our country will remain a 'Bol bacchan' for ever and no point criticising netas all the time, coz the netas are one among us only. If we change ourselves then only we will get better leaders. Its time for us to change
BTW getting back to my horrible day this wasnt the end of it more on it in some time

Magic-1

Of late I have developed an immense liking for Kashid Beach. It is located at around 180kms from Pune. My liking for the beach took me there again and as always the magic unveiled.

The white sands and the beautiful blue of the water met each others at regular intervals. The waves kept gossiping among themselves. I wanted to hear what they where saying so I went closer, my feet where in the water. The sand understood what I was up to and held my feet together, I couldn’t move!; I tried to pull out my feet but couldn’t and to add to my agony I saw a he bully wave. He was furious, and before I could realize anything he knocked me off.

I tried to open my eyes, where the hell was I?. My hands were floating, my legs too I mean I was floating!
“Are you alright?” some one asked me from behind
I turned around; it was a woman in her late 40’s. She looked very elegant in her long waving gown which had slight pink shade to it
“Who are you?” I asked
“I am the queen of this place?”
“ oh yes ..right…” I stopped myself from saying anything. This place looked nothing less than a palace, The huge chandelier at the top was something I had never seen in my life, the pillars reflected of gold, the drapes where probably made of the most exquisite material in this world.
The queen was now smiling
“Where am I?” I asked
“You are in the ocean.”
“I don’t understand”
She smiled in a subtle manner. “Let me explain, you are from the other world right”
“Other world!! What other world?” I asked again
She continued to smile. I didn’t like it, I couldn’t make any sense of what she was saying and she undeniably was enjoying every moment of this.
“See, this water part is OUR world and the land part is YOUR world. You are in OUR world right now”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I had always seen cartoons and heard fables based on this but can it be true?
“How did I come here?”
“No one wanted you here” a husky voice from behind said.
This time it was a young guy with a very well built physique, he was probably in his early 20’s, and he was very fair with a free flowing mane.
“Now who the hell are..” before I could complete my words this guy had held me by the collar
“Now, leave him, you have hurt him already” the queen shouted
“These people need it; they don’t know how to stay in their part of the world”
“They are our guests”
“Then ask them to behave like guests and not to spoil our houses”

While the two were arguing I peeked at the room outside. It wasn’t a room but a huge hall or something like a meeting place. It was full of tall chairs made of ebony. The chandelier here was much bigger than the one I had seen inside. I couldn’t see the end of the dinning table. It probably stretched itself to another place altogether. The drapes were similar to the ones inside and there was a huge window at one corner of this room. I slowly swam towards the window. I was shocked ( for the umpteenth time). I could see the beach from here and all the people outside
“Where are my friends?” I asked myself
“Oh here you are” The queen said “I am sorry for his behavior. He is a little temperamental. He hates it when YOU people dirty our place”
Again for the umpteenth time I did not understand what she meant and then she continued to explain
“You see the ocean, sea is our homes and YOU people have always found our homes a good dumping ground. Our homes are getting smaller everyday because of YOU”
